I am not a physician. I do, however have an 18 year history of GERD and PPI use ~ 17 years. I have Cough Variant Asthma x 29 years. I have been trialed on a variety of PPIs. Nexium significantly worsened my asthma (coughing with projectile vomiting). The only PPI that I've had success with is Protonix (40mg twice daily). When I've decreased the dosage to once a day or insurance has switched me to another PPI, I've spent my nights coughing and having episodes of reflux. On those nights, Gaviscon has been an absolute must. I am a firm believer in the effectiveness of PPI use in the presence of GERD and Cough Variant Asthma. I am not promoting one product over another. As my symptoms worsened, meds have been adjusted accordingly. Thank you for the oportunity to comment.
