Dr.Kewal Krishen Tthassu, bhopal, 10 Jan 2010 12:00 AM EST

A common medical practioner is always confused by controvertial results of different studies. However this study clearly shows that human mind has great effect on diseases and symptoms.

More studies should be conducted to study effects of sham medical procedures and their effects on various diseases and symptoms

Vertebroplasty

Peter J. Stanton, DC, MS, DABCO, 10 Jan 2010 4:09 AM EST

One would think that restoring vetebral height after a fracture would result in better long term outcomes due to the fact that biomechanical integrity is restored. Apparently this is not true in this study population. I'm going to guess that fractures from osteoporosis should be left alone but traumatic fractures in non elderly patients would most likely benefit. As with "cleaning out the knee" repairing small rotator cuff tears, and surgery on disk herniations, sometimes it's better to just leave it alone and see how it goes.
