Reader Remarks on:
Mammography Surveillance for Childhood Cancer Survivors
survival benefit?

In the same journal watch email is an article concluding that there is no benefit to mammographic screening for BRCA carriers younger than 35, due to the risk of (mammographic) radiation-induced cancers. Presumably, this risk is elevated in patients with a history of past radiation as well, since risk is cumulative. In addition, mammograms in 25 year olds are less useful than in 35 or 45 year olds due to breast density. It seems like this may be another situation in which breast MRI would be indicated instead of mammography in young patients.
