I appreciate you cautionary editorial view. As a Hospice physician and a consultant in chronic pain mgt, I have found this useful, even if "premature." For the chronic pain patient, the last thing I want to miss is a patient with previously unknown long QTc. For my hospice pt on 420mg of methadone per day, knowing his QTc went from 460 to 550 with his acute MI last week has been useful. Especially since he is still unclear on his goals of care. We can't forget that the media and the FDA/DEA are out there stirring up anxiety about opioids in general. Informed consent is always a good idea, even with evolving knowledge. Thanks!
